Downtown Orlando in Orlando Florida is also known as "The Theme Park Capital of the World" with more than 62 million visitors every year. Orlando's many famous attractions stem from one of the largest areas of the tourism industry: Walt Disney World which is located southwest of the Downtown Orlando area.

The Walt Disney Company was opened in 1971 and in 1999 Universal Orlando Resort opened as an expansion of Seaworld, Gatorland, Wet 'n Wild and Universal Studios. Most major attractions, beside Disney World, are found on International Drive.

Downtown Orlando is an urban destination which is very walkable and livable. It is super easy to get around with the Sunrail commuter rail system which links Downtown with the rest of Central Florida. Also the transportation partner LYNX has expanded the LYMMO service which is the free Downtown circulator. With this expansion, visitors and residents can have easy accessibility to Downtown's favorite interests including Dr. Philips Center for Performing Arts, Thornton Park, Church Street District, Amway Center and more.

More than ever, the Downtown area has emerged as a sports and entertainment district. A new state-of-the-art performing arts center, Camping World Stadium has taken Downtown to new artistic heights. The Amway Center is home to many professional sports teams such as Orlando Magic, Orlando Predators and Orlando Solar Bears. These cultural cornerstones in the Downtown Orlando region will serve as entertainment for generations to come.

Don't forget the wonderful arts and culture that Downtown Orlando provides, boasting nearly 20 art galleries. CityArts Factory is Downtown Orlando's greatest collection of art galleries which showcases local and international works of arts, which are rotated on a monthly basis. The Grand Bohemian Art Gallery is one of Downtown Orlando's best secrets, with 150 works of art by local, regional and internationally acclaimed artists. Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts showcases the area's premier performance groups as well as Broadway shows.

There is always something new to discover as well as new innovative tourism spots, sports halls, and art districts being constructed yearly. No matter if you are seeking adventure or a cultural look into some of the world's greatest arts, Downtown Orlando has it all.
